Bravo Italian Kitchen - 7470 Vantage Dr, Columbus, OH 43235 - (614)888-3881

Good

Once we got to our table our waiter brought us some bread with dipping oil. The bread and oil was incredible. There are two different types of bread, both really good. We ended up getting 3 baskets of bread throughout the evening. The food was good. I got the Chicken Parmesan. The chicken was a tad over cooked, but other than that it tasted really good. For dessert we got Cannolis. They were awesome too! Overall, I think the quality of the food was excellent. Erica got the Pasta Pomodoro with Chicken. She liked it as well.

Bad

I was a little concerned when we got there. We called ahead for a 7pm reservation, we got there early and when they looked for our reservation they couldn’t find it. However, we were seated around 7pm so I guess it worked out OK… We were given a small table for 2. It was very narrow and long. Not much room for everything that was on the table - drinks, bread basket menus etc. At first the service seemed ok, but it went down hill pretty quick. After we got our drinks we drank them pretty quick and refills came very slow. We had a lot of waiting with empty glasses before refills finally came. Our food came (from someone other than our waiter) and we had started on the meal for a few minutes before the waiter came to check on us, and we had to ask for drink refills. About half way through the meal our service got a little better. The waiter caught on and started getting refills to us in a timely manner. The only other negative was there was a gnat or some other type of bug that was flying around our table the whole night. It looked like a well fed gnat… I hope it wasn’t feasting on our food =/

Rating: ★★½☆☆ - Erica and Chris’ review of Applebee’s in Columbus on Sunday November 9, 2008.

Applebee’s - 3894 Morse Road, Columbus, OH 43219 - (614) 337-8230

Good

We took advantage of the 2 for 20 special going on right now. That was a great value. We got an appetizer and 2 full serving entrees for $20. For the appetizer we got the Boneless Wings (Honey BBQ) and those were absolutely wonderful.  By far the best I have had at any Applebee’s restaurant before, and maybe the best I have had anywhere. Erica got the Fiesta Lime Chicken, and I had a bite of it, and it tasted wonderful as well, and she was very pleased with it.

Bad

I ordered the Bacon Cheeseburger. That was one of the worse cheeseburgers I have ever had. It was dry and very over cooked, I asked for medium. The fries were OK, but nothing special. The bacon on the burger was also dry and over cooked. I will never be ordering a cheeseburger from there again.

The service was pretty slow. The waitress seemed friendly but there were many times we were waiting on drink refills and the food took a long time to get. It’s hard to say if they were under staffed or if it was the fault of the waitress, but I would lean towards under staffed for the night.

The atmosphere was less than desireable. We were in the middle of the restaurant away from the doors and it was still cold. We were surrounded by 4 tables, all having little kids, and although 3 of the 4 tables’ kids were very well behaved, the booth directly behind me had a screaming kid literally 2 feet away from my head… OPK…
